Emily Silver – Thunder (2021)
Influenced by the likes of Pink, Queen and City and Colour, UK-based Emily Silver has a powerful and passionate pop sound. Embracing music at a young age, Silver already has some experience in the industry performing at The Royal Albert Hall (among others) as a child. Pretty impressive right? Well, that’s nothing compared to the collaborations she has under her belt. Alright, by collaboration I don’t mean singers but producers and co-writers such as Brit Award-winning songwriter Simon Ellis on her debut single ‘Feel The Flames’. The latest addition to her well-received discography is ‘Thunder’.
With a strong reminiscence to acts like Adele, Leona Lewis and Pink, Silver is both powerful and poignant in one pretty pink package. Featured in RGM, A&R Factory and YMX, Silver is reaching an audience across the globe with her impassioned singles. Following her debut single ‘Feel The Flames’, ‘Thunder’ is an empowering piece of pop-tastic heaven. While there is an attention-grabbing combination of dynamic guitars and crashing drums, ‘Thunder’ has a flowing melody that is instantly infectious. Now I’m not sure if this is due to the smooth melody, harmonic vocals or meaningful lyricism, but the track definitely hits you between the eyes…in a good way!
Touching on elements of relationships, inner turmoil, anxiety and vulnerability, one would imagine the track to be more fragile than it is. Despite having a delicate elegance, there is a substantial palpableness in the kaleidoscopic soundscape. Empowering and positive with a “don’t get in my way because I am awesome” attitude, Silver allows us a glimpse into a powerful and proud person’s mind. The personal narrative does add some intimacy in the intense song, but it’s an overall upbeat single telling people to overcome their situations in a hopeful way.
Anthemic and addictive, Emily Silver knocks my socks off with ‘Thunder’. This is a singer to watch!
