Elliott Jones – Moment Of Madness (2023)

Using music as an outlet for his creativity and energy, singer-songwriter Elliott Jones brings a nostalgic 90s pop-rock sound to modern-day audiences. After his previous band dissolved just before the pandemic, Jones embraced a solo project finding that line between Foo Fighters, Weezer and Blink 182. While he released his debut single, ‘I Try’ only three years ago, this UK-based musician is garnering a large following with rave reviews and powerful performances. The latest addition to his discography is ‘Moment of Madness’.

Following his well-received track ‘Quick Win’, Elliot Jones blasts into 2023 with the single ‘Moment Of Madness’. Retaining the nostalgic breath of 90s pop-rock in his sound, listening to ‘Moment of Madness’ is like stepping back to yesteryear jumping about to Blink 182 and Sum 41 albums. Hard-hitting with a toe-tapping quality, although you’ll most likely be twirling around instead of just tapping your toe, Elliott Jones effortlessly intoxicates listeners with bold guitars, pounding drums and rich vocals.

Recorded and produced at Alder Studios with Chris Coulter, ‘Moment of Madness’ is both a sophisticated and raw single. With Jack Wrench on the drums and Jones on the guitar, the melody has an elegant flow but with a raw, stripped-back almost naivety to it. It is as if there is a palpable grittiness sticking to your arms while a soft rock tone carries you along the sonic river.

What I find intriguing is how this raw grittiness aligns so perfectly with the song’s message. Jones explains that ‘Moment of Madness’ is “a desperate plea and a search party to find a lost soul, lost in the night running from the truth”. The base rock melody encapsulates the “running to find a lost soul”, whereas the howling vocals and crashing instrumentation capture the craziness in chaotic creativity.

Bold, brash and intoxicating, Elliott Jones draws you into a moment of madness with his new song.
