Elion Melody – The Storm (2020)

Not all relationships are good and some can take an excruciating toll on your well-being. Expressing your feelings in these situations without being shut down can be difficult but, Elion Melody has just what you need with ‘The Storm’. His latest single attempts to finally express the emotional pain of these situations while letting you know that you are not alone. Using a raw vulnerability, he lays it all out without fear.

This show of emotion and vulnerability showcases Melody’s skills and musical passion which he only started pursuing in late 2019. While he only actively started pursuing music recently, he has been the lead singer for youth church events and played the drums for services. Through his music, he is looking to capture the unforced vibes of interacting with others and the emotions that create the world we live in.

‘The Storm’ opens with rumbles of thunder before Melody’s autotuned vocals gently enter. From the first moment, there is a vulnerability to his performance that shines through the electronic soundscape. His performance has a smooth flow with paced moments that bolster the lyrics. There is an unforced vibe to the music making you think the lyrics are the thoughts you have when you feel safe and secure. As you listen to them, you can hear that they are all the things that you want to say but never feel you can.

The emotive and vulnerable vocals are complemented by the electronic melody. The plucked notes are like drops of rain while the contemporary beats warp around you to pull you further into the song. The easy vibe of the vocals comes through in the melody as it moves you in the direction the lyrics and vocals point.

Elion Melody expresses everything that you want to say but never feel able to in a relationship that is not good for you in ‘The Storm’. With vulnerable and emotive vocals, he lays all his feelings out and lets you know that you are not alone in feeling the way you do. The electronic melody combines with the autotuned vocals for a smooth and steady flow.
