Electric High – Siren’s Lullaby (2025)
Electric High – such an apt name for this Norway-based hard rock band. Why is that, I hear you say. Well, it’s because their music is so enthusiastic, energetic and outstandingly powerful you’ll feel you’ve been hit by a rush of electricity with intoxicating effects; the electric high. Drawing together the natural talents of PV Staff (vocals), Olav Iversen (vocals), Marius Mørch (guitars), Einride Torvik (bass), and Tor Helge Opdahl (drums), Electric High sends you reeling with each melody… and you love every second! The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Siren’s Lullaby’.
Taken from the well-received 2024 album, Colorful White Lies, ‘Siren’s Lullaby’ is a bold mash of various rock styles reaching you with a bold punch of hard rock, classic rock and alternative rock. Recorded and produced by Electric High, with Daniel Birkeland (mixing) and Iver Sandøy (mastering), ‘Siren’s Lullaby’ is not necessarily an evolution in the group’s sound but still showcases the enigmatic eclecticism and versatility of Electric High.
Upon opening, the guitar beats immediately turned thoughts to The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’; however, the signature Electric High brand quickly rushed across making ‘Siren’s Lullaby’ entirely their own. Interestingly, while the pulsating drums entwine with soaring guitars and crashing drums, each instrument offers prominent individuality demanding attention but then joins in a harmonic hard rock symphony. The secret weapon, however, is the dual vocals with its intriguing interplay between Staff and Iversen’s rich tones.
Duality is the name of the game when it comes with ‘Siren’s Lullaby’ from the instrument’s individuality and harmony, the vintage rock meets contemporary alt-rock, and the rush of warmth and comfort met by a brash grittiness. The intricate swirl of rugged sophistication is intoxicating, but it is the lyricism in line with the melody that captures its theme of “well, I’ll shrug that off and carry on with life.” The band explain:
“’Siren’s Lullaby’ tells a story of somebody whose big dreams and well-founded plans evaporate in a heartbeat, just by the occasional distraction of a random attractive individual passing by. However, the disappearance of such high thoughts does not feel like a heavy loss to this person who just shrugs it off and carries on to the next dream…”
