Electric High – Hear Me Out (2024)

Known for their infectious electric energy sparking with the brightest of hypnotic light, Norwegian Electric High does what it says on the tin. The buzz, the din, the crackling feast of kaleidoscopic rock, the quintet burst with a charge of raw music intoxicating listeners along the way. From their 2020 single, ‘Sleeping With The Enemy’, to 2022’s ‘Flicking The Bees’ and more recently the single ‘Crooks’, Electric High grasp the core of hard rock in profound melodies. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Hear Me Out’.

Following the well-received single ‘Crooks’, ‘Hear Me Out’ is Electric High’s sonic stomp into 2024. Breathing life into the alternative rock of the ’90s and early 2000s, pounding drums crash alongside scorching guitars with a bold bass running through the track. Yet, while the rocking sway of music carries you across with a harmonic rhythm, it is the brash beat of each instrument sending you from pillar to post.

Following the critically acclaimed single ‘Crooks’, ‘Hear Me Out’ is Electric High’s sonic stomp into 2024. Breathing life into old-school hard rock with a slathering of alternative rock clinging to the melody, ‘Hear Me Out’ oozes kaleidoscopic rock in a flowing sonic river sending audiences adrift on ripples of musical water. The thing is, while you become comfortable in the pool of sound, each caress is slapped with a head-whipping tumultuous wave.

Interestingly, the toss and turn, slam from pillar to post is held within the composition with each instrument hitting you directly. Tor Helge Opdahl’s pounding drums lie along Marius Mørch’s scorching guitar with Einride Torvik’s bass bubbling beneath. Not to be outdone, the double vocals by PV Staff and Olav Iversen weave through the song with brilliant silvery sheens…and then it all comes together in a symphonic harmony.

While the melody is a rough rollercoaster of sounds, the lyricism is as powerful. An anthem for freedom of speech, ‘Hear Me Out’ screams for self-expression and liberating empowerment. Inspired by bassist Einride Torvik’s catchphrase “Hear me out”, the song captures his “need for bringing his message across at all times, and his tireless desire to make clear what is right and wrong…”
