Edge Of Paradise – Rogue (Aim for the Kill) (2024)
Do you remember those cartoons where the character is lifted by their nostrils following an alluring waft toward something enticing? Edge of Paradise is the something enticing. Storming across the music industry since the late 2010s, the US-based quintet has been called “music from another world” intoxicating audiences on an international scale. In 2017, the act released their debut EP Alive (according to Spotify) and since then has conquered the rock and metal world with critically acclaimed singles and albums, extensive touring with bands like Halestorm, features on various notable publications, and even a graphic novel based on their music! The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Rogue (Aim for the Kill)’.
If you have not heard of Edge of Paradise, brace yourself for a sonic hurricane. Following the well-received acoustic track ‘Outrun The Wolves’, ‘Rogue (Aim for the Kill)’ hits you between the eyes with a combination of metal and hard rock oozing forward in a melodic metal package. While the overall tune is harmonic with an odd soothing fluttering throughout the melody, ‘Rogue (Aim for the Kill)’ is a bold distortion of metal-inspired instrumentation each boasting hard-hitting individuality before morphing into a masterful symphony.
A song that is felt instead of heard; ‘Rogue (Aim for the Kill)’ is a jump headfirst into a frenzied whirlwind. Jamie Moreno’s pounding drums catch you with crashing delight while Kenny Lockwood’s bold bass ripples along your skin. David Ruiz’ and Dave Bates’ guitars add a slice of pulsating, gut-wrenching rock as Margarita Monet flits about with her sensational keys. For me, the brash insanity tossing you back and forth can be overwhelmingly terrifying; however, Monet’s sweet vocals hold you close with soothing sincerity and empowerment. Monet explains:
“’Rogue’ is a supercharged anthem propelling the band into an exciting new era on all fronts… This song truly captures our spirit, and we hope to spark inspiration in others to never give up on their extraordinary paths….”
In addition to the single, Edge of Paradise released an official music video for ‘Rogue (Aim for the Kill)’. You can view the video below or on Napalm Records YouTube channel.
