Eddie Cohn – Wheels Stop (2025)

Influenced by the 90s grunge era, an appreciation of 80s rock, plus a “…love for a good pop song”, singer-songwriter Eddie Cohn draws together various flavours of pop, rock, and grunge in his songs – even some folk tinges in his 2020 single, ‘Freedom’. Eager to explore the intricacies and eccentricities of life, Cohn’s melodies touch one’s heart, win one’s soul, and resonate on that level where only music makes sense.

Following his well-received 2024 singles ‘Stop Waving The Gun’ and ‘Keep Them Away’, Cohn steps into 2025 with ‘Wheels Stop’. Joined by a diverse range of musicians including Phil Peterson (cello), Brett Farkas (electric guitar), Dan Lutz (bass guitar), and Jake Reed (drums and percussion), ‘Wheels Stop’ merges the vibrant individuality of each artist in a sensational alternative rock track.

Recorded and produced by Eddie Cohn, with mixing and mastering by Kevin Penner, ‘Wheels Stop’ strongly leans toward vintage rock of the ’80s and ’90s; however, regardless of your age, preferences, and inclinations toward certain musical eras, this single will have you twirling about lost in a kaleidoscopic haze of sound.

The rollercoaster sweep travels across crashing drums, a bold bass, shimmering percussion, soaring guitars, and a slice of haunting cello. Yet, as much as the tune ebbs and flows, there is an underlying soothing as Cohn’s vocals offer sincere steadiness atop the brash grittiness. Interestingly, this intricate web of emotion and music perfectly aligns with the profound theme. Cohn explains:

“I believe there are people in our lives that end up causing us a lot of mental anguish and, sadly, these could be people that are meant to provide nothing but joy. Family and friendships are often complex and complicated but… life is about finding as much joy as we can… This song is about getting all the menacing thoughts or people out of our lives so we can be our best selves.”
