Eddie Cohn – Keep Them Away (2024)

We live in a high-speed, turbulent, stressful society always on the go, go, go…but do any of us actually enjoy life in this high-speed rat race? Social media and the internet can be fun to surf, but it also leads to mental health issues and negative perspectives. Wishing for days of simplicity, many people hope things could calm down so we can catch our breath and enjoy life. Eddie Cohn’s music captures this idea of calming the hell down with the idea that this bad stuff might never happen anyway, so why worry?

Following his well-received singles ‘Wave Goodbye’ and ‘Who or What I Was Before’, ‘Keep Them Away’ is another step toward empowerment and enlightenment for the player and listeners. Recorded and produced by Eddie Cohn, with mixing and mastering by Kevin Penner, ‘Keep Them Away’ is a hard-hitting classic rock song using powerful guitars, drums and percussion to stand up against all the negativity in the world.

Joined by Brett Farkas on electric guitar, Sean Hurley on drums and Jake Reed on percussion, the swirl of old-school rock is a kaleidoscopic rush of sound filled with joy, hope and passion… kind of like heading off on a rollercoaster of fun. Immersed in the twinkling instruments, your soul is placed at ease with the melody; however, Eddie Cohn’s rich vocals bring the extra oomph shoving darkness aside and upping the “awesome this is so much fun” feeling of freedom. Cohn explains:

“The focus of this song is probably most on the news media and how the news media can affect our mood or even our outlook on the world, but this song is really about anything that makes you feel insecure or anxious and then we have to decide if it’s worth keeping those things in our lives… Life is short so let’s try and have fun and make the best of it and stop wasting so much time scrolling or absorbing information that is only going to make us anxious…”
