Echovox – Get Up! (2021)

There are times when you need the inspiration to accomplish anything you set your mind on. You can easily get the boost you need in the aptly named ‘Get Up!’ by Echovox. With lyrics that push you to make a change in yourself for the better, he packs the single with feel-good vibes. By the end of the single, you will feel the urge to get out into the world and make things happen instead of waiting for a change.

This boost of positive vibes comes from Nick Ayers (drums), Jen Howard (vocals), Jason Smith (bass) and Ramesh Berry (guitar). Ayers and Berry began playing with Smith in 2014 before Howard was asked to join to complete their sound. As the title track of their new album, the band gets you infested in an expression of their feelings and ideas.

‘Get Up!’ blasts through you with a fierce energy from the first guitar note. There is a serious punch to the guitar that shakes your insides up and gets you moving. The melody dips a bit for the verses before blasting with energy on the chorus. This does not mean that the powerful energy of the track is lost, but it takes a different approach on the verses. The thrumming of the guitar lines and tapping of the beats have a building feeling on the verse that makes the explosion on the chorus more powerful.

It is not only the music that gets you pumped as Howard’s vocals thrust through your brain. Her voice brings an infectious rock flow to your senses while making you want to move and take action. The layering of her vocals at times brings an extra push to the messaging of the track. There is a really powerful message in the lyrics that fills you with the confidence and drive to grab hold of what you want and make the changes you need to. This is a song that is really enjoyed at its peak when you turn the volume up.

Echovox has energy pumping through your veins and makes you want to get up and take action through the powerful push of ‘Get Up!’. The sublime rock movements fill your senses and pack the raw energy of the single into your veins. Howard’s vocals are the final push you need to stop waiting for something to happen and take the actions you need to achieve what you want.
