DVRK Romantics – Love In A Time Of Danger (2022)

They met, they worked together, they shared their passion for music, and then they collaborated to bring the world a unique duo called DVRK Romantics. I suppose I should tell you who “they” are. The brainchild of The Answer’s Micky Waters and music industry professional Rachel Di Biaso, DVRK Romantics is filled with eclecticism, diversity and originality. Combining indie-rock, glam-rock and electronic beats, the UK-based pair is an atmospheric experience. In fact, Di Biaso has noted that a “…high energy and full band combined with cinematic tracks that focus purely on atmosphere, ambience and emotion.” Come with us as we delve into their debut track ‘Love In A Time Of Danger’.

Influenced by artists like Groove Armada, Massive Attack and Anna Calvi, ‘Love In A Time Of Danger’ is a “bass-driven electric track”. Self-recorded and produced by Waters and Di Biaso, ‘Love In A Time Of Danger’ has a melodic composition layering powerful synths, electric beats and guitars in its textured arrangement. Flowing, soothing and heart-warming, the melody tips you immediately into a sonic whirlpool – and you enjoy every second.

While the melody certainly ensnares your senses and leaves you with a blissful grin, Di Biaso’s rich vocals add an extra something to the track. Standing somewhere between Alanis Morissette, Florence Welch and Nina Elisabet Persson, Rachel Di Biaso’s vocals are obscure and a bit haunting. Ethereal and surreal, Di Biaso’s dulcet tones flit across the hazy instrumentation really hitting that cinematic soundscape in an anthemic way.

So, what is my overall opinion of DVRK Romantic’s debut single? Overall, I find it superb, indulgent and spine-chilling. I cannot wait for more from this talented duo.
