Dusty Grant – I Think I’m Okay (2022)

Founded in 2021, US-based Dusty Grant (vocals and rhythm guitar) combined his talents with musicians Jason Catlett (lead guitar), Chris McNutt (bass), Shane Harper (drums) and Bwana Villa (vocals). Blending elements of hard rock, grunge and metal, the lads certainly have a heavier sound with a hard-hitting afterbite; however, this does not mean they’re only reaching audiences with rock music preferences. Featured on various playlists and international press, Dusty Grant is building a loyal following across the globe among diverse listeners. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘I Think I’m Okay’.

Following their singles ‘Oceans’ and ‘When It All Crashed Down’, ‘I Think I’m Okay’ is the group’s third release in 2022. As with their previous releases, there is a strong hard rock influence in the new song; however, ‘I Think I’m Okay’ appears to be heavier, harder and angrier than the former two singles. Reminiscent of Three Days Grace and Seether, this talented foursome has an infectious rock style that can catch an audience’s ear from the first moment. Yet, while infectious it is the way the song seeps into your soul that makes Dusty Grant intoxicating.

What I find intriguing about Dusty Grant and ‘I Think I’m Okay’ is not the hypnotic arrangement but how the song has a palpable grittiness. Raw, rugged and rough, you can feel the angst and aggression in this single. Grant explains that ‘I Think I’m Okay’ is a statement against people who have rejected or criticised him for the direction he is taking with his music. He shares that “a lot of people don’t understand that, as an artist, it’s not something I choose to do at this point. It’s something I have to do. It borders on obsession, and I’ve put every last drop of everything I have into it.”
