Drox – Loco Loquito (2021)

Fusing the sounds of Black Eyed Peas, Charlie Puth and Enrique Iglesias, Drox presents a unique take on Latin music. With undertones of reggae sounds and urban influences, this Columbia-based singer-songwriter can captivate you with his colourful music arrangements. Featuring on Radio Nacional, Digital TV and various radio stations, Drox is slowly building an international following with his “reggaeton” sound. The latest addition to his well-received discography is the single ‘Loco Loquito’.

Recorded at Digital Records with producer Camilo Mora, ‘Loco Loquito’ layers infectious instrumentation atop moving lyricism. Soothing and smooth, the new single has a chilled vibe creating a toe-tapping ambience with its flowing melodies. Harmonic and intriguing, one can easily imagine oneself sitting with a cocktail enjoying the warmth of the seaside…a true sonic representation of fun and calming experiences.

Highly effective at creating a strong visual with his jovial lyricism, Drox enhances the enchanting quality of this moving tune. Yet, while there is a head-bopping charm to ‘Loco Loquito’, there is a profoundness in the buoyant lyricism. Written as a way to “convey how you can go crazy for someone you know at an unexpected moment”, ‘Loco Loquito’ touches on issues of obsession, impulsiveness and raw attraction. With his warm and rich vocals, Drox easily adds a lingering sense of sentimentality with this honest song.

Following his hip-hop meets reggae-inspired single ‘Muévete’ (read our review here), Drox showcases his innovativeness by traversing various genres in ‘Loco Loquito’. Yes, the track does have a contemporary pop feel, however, there is a unique Drox stamp on it making it suitable for independent and commercial scenes.

In addition to his single, Drox release a lyric video for ‘Loco Loquito’. Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the video due to the extensive use of strobe effects that can cause seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Please watch this video at your own risk.
