Drew Knight – Stars (2022)
While Drew Knight has only two singles under his belt (or at least that’s the case on Spotify), the talented musician is no newbie to the music industry. Featured on blogs like Music Crowns, Less Than 1000 Followers and various playlists, Knight is turning heads across the globe. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Stars’.
Following his well-received single ‘Keep Moving’, Drew Knight adopts an upbeat synth-pop sound in ‘Stars’. As with ‘Keep Moving’ which featured Star Madman, ‘Stars’ is a collaborative project with producer and artist Bradley Denniston. A melodic combination of synth-driven tones and retro drum machines, ‘Stars’ brings a contemporary edge to old-school synth-pop. While the melody has you soaring off on a sonic river with its hazy ambience, it is the use of different vocals that really draws out the theme of ‘Stars’.
Provocative and moving, ‘Stars’ touches on an all-encompassing feeling of overwhelming angst – a concept that is brilliantly executed in Drew Knight’s gritty baritone. Yet, while there is an overwhelming sense of being consumed by emotion, Bradley Denniston’s dulcet tones offer a hopeful, optimistic element to ‘Stars’. It is this contrasting arrangement, while still remaining a flowing whole, that showcases Knight and Denniston’s innovativeness as artists. The first of four songs being released under Radium Records with Bradley Denniston, ‘Stars’ is a sincere, sentimental, insightful and reflective dance-pop sensation.
