Divided – Called Out (2025)

Like a perfect puzzle, Divided is a group of musicians placed together to form the band, Divided. Originally formed five years ago in 2020, the four-some have established their name in the Hampton Roads metalcore scene; however, it’s not just their powerful live performances that captivate audiences. Reaching out to the masses on a global scale, their music bursts from streaming sites through your speakers and wins you over. Before you know it, you’re hitting the repeat button and pumping your fist in the air. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Called Out’.

Despite being a staple on the Hampton Roads live scene, the US-based band have only a couple of tracks to their discography (according to Spotify). The thing is, while they might be lacking when it comes to quantity, Divided excels with melodic quality. Weaving together the musical stylings of Chris (vocals), Nick (guitar), Alex (bass), and Nate (drums), ‘Called Out’ is, as described by Divided, “…a thrasher of a track. It’s punchy and in your face. While shorter than many of our other tracks, ‘Called Out’ makes the most of the time that it has, grabbing the listener and never letting them go…”

Following the singles ‘B.T.K’ and ‘GREED’, both included on the double-sided ‘Divided’, ‘Called Out’ smashes out with thrash metal madness. From the outset, you are immediately tossed into a sonic hurricane with hard-hitting metal rushing past your head at a breakneck speed. Tossed from pillar to post with reckless abandon, it’s difficult to find your bearing in ‘Called Out’; however, just as it’s chaotic, you can find yourself enjoying the madness and losing yourself in the heavy music.

One aspect I find intriguing about ‘Called Out’ is the complex duality found in the distorted disturbance of metal wrapped in a sense of harmony. Crashing drums, bold bass, a scorching guitar, and gritty vocals each demand attention, yet there is strong unity in the track. Bringing the energetic presence of their live shows to studio recordings, I believe this is evidence of one of the more exciting metal bands to cross my desk. I cannot wait for more!
