Digital Tapestry – Go For Broke (2023)

Genre-defying and boundary-breaking, musical collective Digital Tapestry is exactly what it says on the tin: a digital sonic tapestry. Painting with a plethora of sounds, Digital Tapestry tends to lean toward the rock and pop side of things, however, there are traces of all styles in this project. The main member of the group is the producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist formerly known as Phonix but now operating as Digital Tapestry. This is our introduction to the artist(s), but the tapestry has dazzled audiences with its bright colours. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Go For Broke’.

Following the singles ‘The Little Things’ and ‘I’m The One’, ‘Go For Broke’ is Digital Tapestry’s first release in 2023. Soft, soothing and mellifluous, there is a smooth quality to ‘Go For Broke’. From the outset, Digital Tapestry tosses you into a swirl of sound letting you float in the kaleidoscopic haze. Interestingly, while gentleness remains in the kaleidoscopic haziness, a light brashness breaks through leaning toward the abrupt tones of EDM. Overall, though, the synth-driven pop sentimentality keeps you chilling and tapping your toe in a smile-inducing flurry.

Just as the melody is moving and charming in its joviality, ‘Go For Broke’ has a heartwarming message to its tune. Honest and poetic, the lyricism touches on relationships and the rollercoaster people face in romances. This time, instead of stepping away and dealing with anxiety, Digital Tapestry discusses the positives of fighting for a relationship. It is “a fun little summer bop about sticking it out in a relationship even when the going gets tough…”

Sincere, sentimental and refreshingly unique, Digital Tapestry turn our heads with the introspective ‘Go For Broke’.
