Diego Federico – Drop It (2024)

The burning passion for performing arts flickered in Diego Federico’s heart when he was a young ‘un, playing piano and singing in choirs before the age of 8. His love for music, dance and fashion grew as he did, and he graduated from the Performing Centre Austria in Vienna. Raised in a bi-lingual family, his Italian heritage melded with German language fused a diverse artistic perspective lighting the burning passion even further. Federico’s career began in small TV shows, but it was theatre that allowed him a stage for dramatic exuberance. In 2021, he released well-received pop singles ‘Nation of Art’ and ‘Son of a Titan’, and his passion for music exploded into a roaring fire. Come with me as I step into Diego Federico’s furnace of performing arts.

“My voice doesn’t mean anything if I don’t make use of it. I stand for love, freedom and a dream…” – the ethos by Diego Federico to make his mark, connect with listeners and bring something new to the world. Following his singles ‘Cold’ and ‘Swipe’, the new single ‘Drop It’ captures raw emotion with Federico’s unique pop twist. As with the previous material, commercial pop oozes from ‘Drop It’; however, a stronger lean toward electropop can be heard.

Vivid and kaleidoscopic, listening to ‘Drop It’ is an immersive experience of Diego Federico’s artistic vision pushing us into a world of sound. Pulsating beats pierce the melody like a pounding heart as you walk through a haunting sonic forest. Dark creatures hide behind each tree and the slips of synths offer a skin-tingling sensation. Your heart leaps into your throat and you feel a little fearful in the raw vulnerability, yet Federico holds your hand navigating the intricate path with powerful pop vocals.

The melody is a chilling trip through heart-wrenching fog and forest, but it is the poignant lyricism that offers greater depth. A tale of tragedy, heartache, pain and tearfulness of love lost, Federico delicately picks at human fragility in this vulnerable moment. Speaking of the sensitive subject, Federico asks: “Have you ever been hurt by the person you love the most? You cannot really put it into words, but all you want to do is run away.”
