Dez Rocket – Take On The World (2024)

Music is more than just listening to words and melodies, it is something deeper, spiritual and moving on a different level. For many artists, the belief is that music is all-consuming, absolutely everything in a crazy world. In our 2021 interview with Dez Rocket, he shared that “music has always moved my spirit; the sound vibrations are intoxicating…” It is with this complete immersion in the experience of music that we find ourselves, others and in this case, Dez Rocket.

Hailing from the USA, Missouri to be exact, singer-songwriter Rocket delves into various flavours of rock with his distinctive brand of grunge meets pop-rock meets indie-rock meets whatever and more. While he caught our eye back in 2021 with his album Dezert Rocket, it is his latest single ‘Take On The World’ that catches our fancy today. Following his well-received singles ‘PICB’ and ‘I Win’, ‘Take On The World’ is his third release in 2024 and one of the tracks off his upcoming album I Win.

Shifting from the grunge-inspired tones of ‘I Win’, Rocket’s new single bursts with a fiery aggression leaning toward the power of punk, but with the heaviness of alternative rock pounding in the tune. Combining Mike Bertolino’s crashing drums, Rocket’s soaring guitars, and brash underlying synths, ‘Take On The World’ is a hard-hitting punch to the gut setting you lose to the soul-stirring madness of an otherworldly mosh-pit. Interestingly, while there the track has a contemporary lilt, it is highly nostalgic with a jab of vintage punk and rock.

The melody itself can be moving with Rocket’s rich vocals enhancing the emotional sonic rollercoaster; however, its profoundness increases in the powerful message. Dez Rocket shares:

“My new single ‘Take On The World’ is about how messed up the energy on this planet is right now, and how many people have started waking up to the fact that the global elites’ nefarious agenda is real… I think the world is run by a corrupt bunch of psychotic morons whose plan to take over the world is so predictable and obvious it’s like it was planned by a bunch of 9-year-olds… it’s about time people take back the planet, not with violence… take it back with love.”
