Davie Furey – Downtown Parade (2022)

Known for his engaging, energetic and eclectic music, singer-songwriter Davie Furey has been turning heads for approximately seven years – or so says Spotify. This is my introduction to the Irish native; however, he has been impressing the press for several years featuring on Rock At Night, The Big Takeover, Irish Mirror, On The Spot Music, and American Songwriter (to name but a few). Along with his making waves on the blogosphere, Furey has made an imprint on numerous radio stations and playlists across the globe. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Downtown Parade’.

Once again collaborating with the insatiable Dublin singer-songwriter ELLYD, ‘Downtown Parade’ combines soulful vocals, dynamic drums and powerful guitars in a melodic arrangement. Furey and ELLYD previously collaborated on the single ‘Secret Light’ earning the #1 spot on the singer-songwriter iTunes Chart. So, needless to say, the two Irish artists work in harmony to create successful songs.

Following his single ‘History’, which reached the #1 spot on the iTunes Rock Charts earlier this year, ‘Downtown Parade’ is a tender, intimate track connecting with audiences. The richness of Furey’s vocals weaves beautifully with ELLYD’s soothing tones – add the charming piano and you have a song with a punch but also gentleness. Unlike the more high-paced ‘History’, ‘Downtown Parade’ is flowing, smooth and eloquent. Interestingly enough, Furey explains that the song is a “shadowy tale of what a night may hold” but the melody has an innocent whimsy to it. I suppose most nights out do begin with naïve whimsy, don’t they?

“’Downtown Parade’ is a shadowy tale of what a night may hold. I love the energy of a city and each city has its own unique energy. It’s not something I need frequently but what it happens I enjoy the buzz.” – Davie Furey on ‘Downtown Parade’
