Dave Clark – Puddles and Water (2024)

Inspired by life in its totality, singer-songwriter Dave Clark delves into reality as it is, was and will be with his moving music. The UK-based artist has been playing and writing music for ages – he can’t remember a time before his passion for music burned; however, it is only recently that he shared this passion with the masses. Honing his craft over the years, Clark’s music became a raw representation of himself capturing his experiences, opinions and personality in musical wrappers. He describes his project as “a culmination of years of reflection, life experience and raw emotion…” The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Puddles and Water’.

Following his debut single ‘Reciprocation’, Clark’s sophomore single winds together various styles of folk with eclectic flair. Recorded with producer Glenn Kerrigan, ‘Puddles and Water’ is a harmonic union of acoustic guitar, percussion and piano in a warm folk arrangement. Interestingly, while the production is sophisticated with maturity oozing from all elements – including Clark’s rich vocals – raw vulnerability lingers finding the line between innocence and worldliness.

Melodically, ‘Puddles and Water’ wriggles under your skin and ensnares your senses; however, it is the lyricism that brings depth to the track. A warm embrace but also a gritty haunting, Clark highlights his immersive story telling skills with words as well as an obscure tune. Clark explains:

“In ‘Puddles and Water’ I tried to take it beyond the music itself and create an atmosphere for the music and lyrics to sit within, so you can feel that you’re in the song, not just a listener on the outside… ‘Puddles and Water’ is the next step in a personal musical journey… it will reward anyone who likes to listen deeply to music focussing on themes of introspection and longing in a unique, dark, but humorous style.”

In addition to the single, Dave Clark released an official music video for ‘Puddles and Water’. You can view the video below and on his YouTube channel.
