Daniel Benisty – Si Nada (2024)
With a notable portfolio of critically acclaimed releases, accolades, performances and well-received musical masterpieces, Daniel Benisty has captivated audiences for 20 years (give or take). As both a solo artist and vocalist/pianist for his band The London Swing and Soul Band, the UK-based Benisty melds classical precision with contemporary charm in a wrapper of tempting sound.
Sauntering through various genres and styles from soul to blues, classical to jazz, Daniel Benisty can hardly be labelled. His innovation, experimental nature and eclecticism are further showcased in a variety of languages. Fluent in five languages and a singer in 18 languages, a cultural confidence and all-accepting embrace soothes ears in English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. The latest addition to his discography is the Spanish single ‘Si Nada’.
Following his well-received single ‘Stars’, Benisty leaps into 2024 with his new track ‘Si Nada’. The second Spanish single in his songbook, ‘Si Nada’ retains the sensuality of ‘Nada Mas’; however, it lacks the upbeat twirls and genre-defying bounce of ‘Nada Mas’. This by no means there is any disappointment in Benisty’s new song – it merely illustrates the flexibility of Benisty using certain emotions and intricacies in various ways.
Following the pop ballad ‘Stars’, which could easily be used as a theme song for heartbreaking moments of a fascinating musical, ‘Si Nada’ steps back in time to the days of Charles Aznavour and Julio Iglesias. Capturing the core of Latin pop with his haunting piano, Benisty sends shivers down your spine in vulnerable darkness as long-time friend and producer Harrison stabs the single with his jazz-infused trumpet. Interestingly, it is not only the melody that fills one’s head with kaleidoscopic fog, it is the breathy vocals that intoxicate.
While ‘Si Nada’ is a song of reflection delicately exploring the grittiness of one’s soul, a lingering hopefulness exists in the heart-melting composition. Daniel Benisty explains:
“Despite being a song of stillness and reflection, ‘Si Nada’ is also a song about the appreciation of love and life and the determination of hope in the face of difficulties.”
