D3lta – Strange (2022)

D3lta continues to break away from the confines of labels and genres with his single ‘Strange’. The empowering single is packed with upliftment and the strength to forge your own path, while accepting the things others deem strange in your life. While breaking the chains of stereotypes, he draws inspiration from a relationship with someone who was unapologetically unique and the positivity this person brought to his life.

Through the single, he charts a path of individuality, positivity and embracing the things that make us all different. No newcomer to forging new paths, D3lta first started exploring music at age 5 with classical piano lessons, before picking up the guitar at 12 to experiment with punk and grunge. He performed as part of various bands through high school, before studying engineering in London and immersing himself in the underground music scene. His music under this moniker has seen him played on the biggest rock radio stations in Greece and gaining fans across the world.

‘Strange’ has a really chilled opening that makes you think of days spent on the beach or a warm summer’s day. The strummed guitar that follows continues this light touch of warmth, while making you want to sway along to the vibes of the melody. The acoustic guitar-driven melody is really catchy and you can’t help but get lost in the motions. Through the warmth of the tones, there is an uplifting energy that has a glowing light flooding your chest. As you soak up the good vibes, the lightest touch of nostalgia rests in the strummed tones. The guitar riffs that come later enhance the nostalgia while adding a rise to the music before you drop back to the strummed acoustic tones.

While you are swaying and bopping around to the light melody, D3lta’s vocals bring a euphoric celebration of individuality. The opening line of his performance is an embrace of the strange things in life. This acceptance is bolstered by the light humming backing vocals that add depth to his performance. As the single progresses, his vocals start to contrast the easy vibes of music as the lyrics take an almost pensive turn. The lyrics consider all the negatives that are linked to being strange, but this is dropped when the chorus hits and you embrace everything that is unique. The emotional movement of the lyrics and vocals is masterful as it subtly leads you to the acceptance of the differences in the world.

D3lta has us embracing everything that is different through the contrasting feelings and vibes of ‘Strange’. The easy flow of the melody has you swaying in the cool breeze of a warm summer’s day. His vocals embrace what makes us all different, while highlighting the trepidation we feel before being able to.
