Penned as part of the project #PetAdoptionRocks, ‘Nothing Like Loving You’ is a heart-warming song pushing the issue of pet love and the importance of pet adoption. In today’s uncertain world, stray animals are becoming more common, and Joule wants to do something about it to see a meaningful change with humans being more aware of unwanted pets. Hopefully, this awareness leads to the act of pet adoption.
Featuring fellow musician Pete Brailey, ‘Nothing Like Loving You’ focuses on the significant relationship between an adopted stray and his new owner. From the outset, a hearty banjo elegantly captures the joy of the pet/owner relationship while entwining with pounding drums and a light-hearted guitar. A strong country-rock flavour simmers through bringing up a smile-inducing folk tone – one that you can tap your toes to. Interestingly enough, while ‘Nothing Like Loving You’ is a buoyant, bright song, there is a juxtaposition of poignant themes and happy sounds.
One element of ‘Nothing Like Loving You’ that I enjoy is Joule’s calming, warm and mellifluous vocals. The dulcet tones scoop you up in a comfortable sonic hug and have you grinning from the first note.
Sincere, sentimental and engaging, ‘Nothing Like Loving You’ brings a serious theme to audiences with a chilled-out, smile-inducing vibe. I highly recommend this shining gem in a pool of sonic pebbles.
