Chris Pellnat (ft. Catalus) – Love is coming الحب قادم

If you happen to recognise the name Chris Pellnat, you might have heard him as one half of the duo Teeniest, guitarist of The Warp/The Weft, a known name in the New York Area, or because you’re a great The Other Side Reviews fan and he’s previously been featured (shameless self-promotion, isn’t it?). Come with us as we delve into his hopeful song, ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘.

Following the well-received 2024 tracks ‘We Are Not Robots’ and ‘Super Colliders’, ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘ sees a shift from heavier indie-pop/indie-rock sounds to a soothing, gentle, tender mixture of pop and world music. Melodically, there is an interplay between a 90s pop ballad and Arabian vibes; however, the infusion of Middle Eastern traditional tones give ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘ an alternative sound with drums, guitars, and a sitar (I think, but don’t quote me) wrapped in a kaleidoscopic haze. (2025)

As a melody, ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘ is intriguing, unique, and a brilliant entwining of cultures with sophisticated flair, but further vocal duality ups the ante in its arrangement. Joined by Moroccan singer Catalus – she also featured on Pellnat’s single ‘In My Heart’ – ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘ opts for an Arabic-English lyrical execution, having an interplay of not only cultures but also languages.

A conversation between friends, ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘ “…assures a good friend that she will find love…”, so it’s already a tender, warm embrace. Then again, take a deeper look – as I tend to do when entirely unnecessary – and you might find a philosophical theme lingering in the background. In a world filled with uncertainty, anger, hate and tragedy, it’s always refreshing to know there is a bright light begging to break free from any dark mire; Chris Pellnat and Catalus bring this joy to our ears in their new single, ‘Love is coming الحب قادم ‘.
