Chris Considine – Force of Nature (2022)
Influenced by the likes of The Beatles, The Strokes and Declan McKenna, US-based Chris Considine has an appreciation for old-school and modern-day music – something we see (or rather hear) in his unique sound. Beginning at the age of 15, Considine began writing music and since then performed with a group called Dugway. Following the disbanding of Dugway, Considine embraced a solo project and we’re so glad he did. Described as being a natural singer-songwriter with clever rhythms and a signature glow, Chris Considine is already turning the heads of critics across the globe. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Force of Nature’.
Following his track ‘Dream Away’, ‘Force of Nature’ explores the profound issues of human fragility and vulnerability. Using a personal narrative, Considine touches on the experience of anxiety and its effects. This talented artist explains that “…some experience with anxiety is so bad that it trumps all logic and reason.” Yet, while there is a melancholic haze floating above the intimate song, ‘Force of Nature’ highlights the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.
Soft, gentle and flowing with an upbeat quality, the melody has a romantic nostalgia to it; however, the lyricism shows depth and innovativeness. While his vocals may be rich with a certain smoothness to them, the eclecticism arrives as you hear despair, desperation and pain beneath the tones. Beautifully crafted, the acoustic-inspired sound merges with his desperate vocals; yet there is a powerful optimism belying the fear built in the poignant lyrics. Considine shares that “this song [‘Force of Nature’] is a reminder to think positively and not let those thoughts control you.”
Intensely intimate, sentimental, sincere and honest, ‘Force of Nature’ is completely insatiable. I am eager to hear more from this talented artist.
