Chris Bullinger – Shine (2025)

Inspired by the human condition and reality in all its tragedy and triumph, singer-songwriter Chris Bullinger explores “…the themes of truth, empathy, and the rhythm of life, proving time and again that his voice resonates with the core of the human experience.” As a poet and storyteller, the US-based Bullinger uses moving melodies and provocative lyrics to carry listeners through intimate, heartfelt, tender journeys. While already a renowned veteran artist, we were a bit late to the party, discovering Bullinger in 2024. Join us as we continue to explore his discography with the most recent single ‘Shine’.

Following his well-received 2024 single ‘Salvation As I Know It’, ‘Shine’ showcases Bullinger’s genre-diversity with slicks of rock, folk and blues fused in a few minutes of music. For me, ‘Shine’ – and all of Bullinger’s other melodies – is more of an emotional experience than just sound bursting from your speakers. Tossing you into a sonic whirlpool, the tune pushes you about with a wash of dynamic guitars and bold drums. As an oscillation between grittiness and glorious sophistication, ‘Shine’ is the shiny penny with raw tenderness on one side and mature elegance on the other.

Melodically, Bullinger’s ‘Shine’ channels the “restless energy of a late-night garage session”, but it is the lyricism that enhances the vulnerability and ruggedness of the track. Taken from his upcoming album, Waitin’ To Be Seen Part 2, it captures the challenges of facing one’s flaws but coming out at the other end even more resilient than before. As part of an album looking at the realisation of finding one’s light, Bullinger takes an honest, painful and sometimes rather uncomfortable look into our souls.

In addition to the single, Chris Bullinger released an official lyric video for ‘Shine’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
