Chayne – Don’t Make Me Laugh (2025)

At the precipice of adulthood, teetering between young teenage fancy and bigger adulting world things to come, 17-year-old Chayne is placing her stamp on the music scene with bold rips of pop and rock. Currently a bit of a newbie in the massive pool of industry sharks, Chayne might be young, but she’s by no means a push-over. The hyper minnow disturbing all those bigger fish, she eagerly dips and weaves with passionate zeal, making her difficult to ignore. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh’.

Following her 2024 songs ‘Quicksilver’, ‘Kick Me In The Heart’, and ‘Number One’, Chayne storms into 2025 with her fourth single, ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh’. Produced by Paul Thomson, the new single somewhat diverges from her previous pop-rock tracks, leaning further toward an indie-pop meets indie-rock stance. A concoction of pounding drums, bold bass, dynamic guitar, and slips of keys teetering on the edge, Chayne takes you on a musical journey through a dark sonic forest. It might be a little eerie and kick your heartbeat up a notch, but the warm vocals are a friendly hand guiding you in the haze.

At only four tracks, Chayne might not have found a distinctive sound per se; however, the inkling of a sophisticated personality is quickly emerging. Drifting in the darker side of the pop-rock, grunge, indie-rock spectrum, there is a heavier tone to the charming young ‘un. Then again, a slice of optimistic, jovial, “check the bright lights” quality lingers in Chayne’s potential identity. She might have a bit of a cheeky side, but she’s still a girl you’d want to befriend.

So, overall, what is my opinion of Chayne and ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh’? I hate to harp on her youth, but there is an innocent rambunctiousness encouraged by youth that is prominent in Chayne’s music. ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh?’ illustrates her diversity with a lighter tone and showcases that eclectic evolution to find a distinctive style. All in all, she is an exciting act, and we should expect amazing things from this talented songstress.
