CHANDLER – Moments Asleep (2022)

Hailing from a small town in Alabama (that’s in the USA to be specific), singer-songwriter CHANDLER is known for his eclectic, engaging and emotive music. Drawing inspiration from life, sounds and stories, CHANDLER’s natural musical talent is brought to light in obscure soundscapes. Featured in Rolling Stone, Sinusoidal Music, Pop Passion, Minimalistic Music, Scenes Media and various other publications, CHANDLER is turning heads on an international level. The latest addition to his well-received discography is the EP Moments Asleep.

Dissimilar, but not necessarily completely unlike music pushing certain topics, Moments Asleep is a four-track EP embracing the present. In Moments Asleep, CHANDLER “ditches the idea that art is required to have a deeper meaning…it is allowed to simply reflect moments in time, capture a feeling or memory, work through an idea, an issue, a transition. It is meant to meet you exactly where you are.” – this is potentially one of the most significant connections with the human spirit. To simply be is one of the most important life lessons we can learn, and CHANDLER presents it in a sonic bubble.

Embarking on a journey of self-reflection, CHANDLER uses soulful vocal work to embrace his sense of self-growth and self-discovery. One of his more experimental releases, Moments Asleep binds together various genres, as well as finding the delicate line between them in a cinematic and contemporary soundscape.

Opening with ‘Fake Channel’, CHANDLER grabs your hand to navigate a musical forest. Driven by his warm vocals and guitar, ‘Fake Channel’ is soothing, smooth and gentle placing you at ease as he sings “…you don’t have to change”. Yet, while CHANDLER opens with a smooth sensation, ‘Sleep Song’ quickly shows his versatility with a more up-tempo beat behind contemporary pop-inspired execution. You can also hear CHANDLER’s versatility with the movements to rock in ‘Poser’ and ‘LAZY’.

Moments Asleep is an eclectic, experimental and obscure EP taking you through the dips, rises, turns and twists of a sonic journey. As we mentioned, each song represents a moment in time and is relatable to audiences across the globe. Intriguing and inspiring, CHANDLER has captivated me with Moments Asleep. He has two more upcoming EPs, and I cannot wait to hear them.
