Cera Gibson – I Found God (2025)
While we might not have reviews on The Other Side Reviews, Cera Gibson has kept our team intrigued for some time already, as she has many listeners across the globe. From 2019’s ‘Blood Diamond’ to 2024’s ‘Eclipse’, Gibson’s music has lingered amidst the darker sides of pop with shimmers of hip hop, slices of soul, and a hard-hitting indie-pop flair. One of the most recent additions to her discography is the track, ‘I Found God’
Taken off her six-track EP, pinksoak, ‘I Found God’ is a race through various slicks of pop from dark-pop to dream-pop with avant-garde sentimentality. Produced with Tyler Harris, the single is a combination of airy synths, glimmering keys, and a pulsating beat acting like a heartbeat of sorts. Interestingly, while ‘I Found God’ is mostly a pop song, a slip of rock-flecked guitar breaks through, adding weightiness to the electric tune.
While songs like ‘Older Woman’ are powerful sonic experiences, ‘I Found God’ is more immersive than most of the tracks on pinksoak. Eerie and kind of creepy, the haunting instrumentation wraps about you like a kaleidoscopic sonic blanket. Yet, as much as you feel a sense of comfort in the blanket, it is not that “oh, come here and warm by the fire” comfort; instead, it is the “don’t be shy to let it all lay bare” style.
Individuality booms in this intimate single, but a universal message of empowerment and identity exists. A “full-throttle exploration of pleasure, self-discovery, and shedding shame… ‘I Found God’ is about reclaiming sexual power after an underwhelming relationship…” Adding her glimmer of haunting vocals, Gibson injects sensuality, sexuality, and freedom into ‘I Found God’.
In addition to the single, Cera Gibson released an official music video for ‘I Found God’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel.
