Cali Tucker – Country Couture (2024)
Born to country music royalty, singer-songwriter Cali Tucker is the niece of legendary Tanya Tucker and recording artist LaCosta Tucker, but you need more than a name to become something great. Sure, the name helps, but Cali Tucker reaches beyond her family’s name as a prominent figure in her own right. A national beauty, she is a former Miss Teen All American, and her performance on NBC’s The Voice saw an evolution to a “highly sought-after Las Vegas headliner…” with a confident stage presence sharing moving melodies. This is our introduction to the talented musician, so join us as we delve into one of her more recent releases, ‘Country Couture’.
Her roots may lie in country music, but Tucker is the “aspiring Crossover Queen” daubing traditional country with splashes of pop. Produced by Grammy-nominated G’harah Degeddingseze, ‘Country Couture’ is the first release since her 2021 song ‘DANDELION’. To be honest, upon first listen I was transported back to 1990s Shania Twain; however, Cali Tucker brings a contemporary indie-pop edginess to the single. Bold beats, dynamic drums, and a soaring guitar make the sugary-sweet song somewhat grittier showcasing a bad-girl attitude within her comfortable country coat.
Toe-tapping and infectious, ‘Country Couture’ is made for festival audiences with hundreds of fans singing along, yet it is simultaneously one of the perfect tracks for a night of karaoke. For me, the melody is intoxicating but Cali Tucker’s powerhouse vocals take the song up another level – upping the ante, so to speak. Brimming with cheekiness and a sassy streak, her vocals exude more sugary sweetness; however, duality exists as a rebellious rogue lurks beneath the smiling personae.
Powerful, heart-warming, and most importantly fun, Cali Tucker has wiggled into our brains and hearts with ‘Country Couture’. I might not have heard of her until now, but I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one – you should too!
