Bvrden – Ballad of a Daydreamer (2021)

For almost all humans on Earth 2020 was a year filled with chaos, uncertainty, tragedy and distress; however, there are some good things from last year. One of these uplifting things is the intriguing duo Bvrden. A collaboration of long-time friends, the Rome-based pair merge elements of pop-rock with alternative rock and even some twinges of folk in their dynamic music. Despite their newbie status on the music scene, the pair has already featured in RGM, Nexus Music Blog, FV Music Blog, YMX and various online radio stations. The latest addition to their eclectic discography is the single ‘Ballad of a Daydreamer’.

Following their well-received debut single ‘Dangerous’, ‘Ballad of a Daydreamer’ blends pop-rock with some Americana undertones. With the upbeat spiritedness of The Fratellis, power of Panic! At The Disco and intimacy of Thrice, Bvrden create a reflective soundscape for the daydreamers in this world. Sadly, one cannot dream one’s life away (trust me, I know) and ‘Ballad of a Daydreamer’ take on this poignant concept in their reflective new single.

While the guitar-driven single has a flowing melody, the vocals add intensity and boldness to the track. Using a nostalgic narrative, Bvrden captures the perplexities of life with an introspective honesty. The rich warmth of the complementary vocals add to the feeling of desperation; however, there is a sense of lingering optimism and hopefulness to the track. An emotional ballad with heartfelt lyricism, ‘Ballad of a Daydreamer’ can leave you hugging yourself with a sense of soul-stirring relief.

“The song talks about a person who always daydreamed throughout his life but finally finds himself questioning his actual situation and past choices. Although perplexed and disturbed, he’s now motivated in finding a balance and uses his strengths to overcome his long-lasting fears.” – Bvrden on ‘Ballad of a Daydreamer’.
