Broken Romeo – Stay With Me (2024)

For over a decade, US-based group Broken Romeo has been creating their own brand of rock music to share with the masses. Sauntering across various styles of rock, the lads draw together classic sounds with contemporary styles. From alternative rock to classic rock, pop rock and indie-rock – Broken Romeo has a bit of something for everyone. From winning a Tammie award in 2011 to sharing the stage with numerous national artists, the Arizona quartet bring energy, enthusiasm and confident electricity to their songs and stages. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Stay With Me’.

Born during the chaos of the Covid-19 pandemic, Broken Romeo began work on their latest studio album, Infirmus Orbis, releasing each track independently as soon as it was finished. Following 2022’s single, ‘Wait For Me’, the new single ‘Stay With Me’ is the sixth track off the upcoming Infirmus Orbis.

Showcasing their diversity and originality as a group, ‘Stay With Me’ is a shift from the punk-tinged classic rock sound of ‘Wait For Me’ to a grunge-filled flood of alternative rock. Moreover, while ‘Wait For Me’ brought a nostalgic whisper of 70s and 80s rock, ‘Stay With Me’ captures the essence of vintage rockers with a modern-day edginess fluttering along. For me, there appears to be a strong reminiscence of Black Sabbath’s hard rock with Matt Ringnell’s pounding drums, Air Sloane’s hard-hitting bass, James and Steve Turpin’s heavy guitars and a gut-wrenching darkness in the weighty vocals.

Inspired by the unrest of the pandemic in an uncertain society, Broken Romeo hit you between the eyes with ‘Stay With Me’. Pulling you deep into a desperate pool of chaotic confusion, it is difficult to see any light. Yet, just as the melody drags you into a tumultuous mire, the song provokes profoundness in the intriguing lyricism. A glimmer of hopefulness splits through the dark bringing some light; a yearning to keep hold of sanity in insanity.
