BrandosLife – SAVIOUR (2022)

Through his single ‘Mistakes’, BrandosLife considered putting people on a pedestal only to be let down by them as they sink into gaslighting, manipulation and pettiness. He is taking a different direction with his latest single ‘SAVIOUR’ which delves into trying to trust your heart while your head is a bit of a mess. Packed with the uncertainty of love, he tries to navigate the winding path of vulnerability that is lit with the challenge of determining if you are really ready for love.

Through the battle of head and heart, the single is an embodiment of the internal visualisation we all need to do in order to determine what it is that we actually want. An upbeat RnB single, it packs the heaviness of the struggle into something a little easier to digest, while offering a sprinkling of hope for the future. While pushing us to take the leap of faith that is falling in love, he brings the question of who exactly you would take this leap for.

The slightly distorted tones that open ‘SAVIOUR’ slowly move into a more melodic flow. There is a traditional RnB shuffle to the low levels of the melody, while the upper tones are a wonderful contemporary flow. The distortion of the opening remains in the background of the melody, offering a thread that holds the core of the single. Through the rich RnB vibes of the music, you are drawn into the introspection of the single, but there is a feeling of emotional struggles woven into the notes. The interplay between the top and bottom layers of the music creates the battle between your head and heart. This struggle is enveloped in a slightly upbeat vibe that lightly leads you to a sense of understanding.

The distortion of the opening is not limited to the melody as a vocal line calls out, only to vibrate into the beats of the music. The main vocal line rises from the depths of the melody with a rather soft feeling. There is a comforting vibe to his vocals that lets you know this battle is normal and you are not alone in feeling it. The lyrics consider the emotional toll of wanting to give your heart to someone, but being uncertain if this is the right person to be vulnerable with. He has wonderfully spun honest vulnerability into a feeling of needing to build walls. As the single progresses, he considers what someone needs to do in order for you to take the leap into love with them. It is a really rich delve into thoughts and concerns that are sometimes hard to put into words.

Using a melodic interplay and powerful vocals, BrandosLife looks at the challenge of trusting your heart while your head says no in ‘SAVIOUR’. Using a distortion in the opening, the melody grabs your attention before creating the struggle of the single in the interplay of its layers. His vocals consider the toll on your emotions that this struggle brings, while looking at what someone needs to do to win the fight for your love.
