Bones In Butter – They Live! (2021)

A collaboration of various musicians, Bones In Butter is one of the more diverse groups bouncing about our virtual pages. Led by multi-instrumentalist Milutin Krasevic, the different artists bring a unique, powerful and melting pot sound to the masses. Influenced by the likes of Joy Division, Giant Sand, The Electric Light Orchestra, The Stranglers, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, their music is difficult to define and, personally, I don’t want to define it. The incorporation of different ideas, experiences and sounds make Bones In Butter completely indescribable.

Featured on Rising Artists Blog, Less Than 1000 Followers, Edgar Allan Poets and various other online press, Bones In Butter are reaching people across the globe. Following their well-received single ‘Her Cave’ (read our review here), ‘They Live!’ is a hard-hitting punk-influenced “in your face” track. Moving from the softer st-punk sound with incorporated synths, Bones In Butter show they are not a band to be pigeon-holed. Already professional musicians in their own right, this transition showcases how flexible and innovative the collaboration is.

“‘They Live!’ was inspired by an 80s sci-fi movie of the same title so with the song I am paying homage to John Carpenter, the director. I’ve been a huge fan of his work since day one.” – Milutin Rasevic (vocals) on ‘They Live!’

Combining heavy guitars with hard synths, ‘They Live!’ is an assault on the senses. I’m not saying it’s a bad assault but it’s not for the faint-hearted. Deep, gruff and brutal, Krasevic’s vocals meld with the gritty guitars and pounding drums. Recorded, mixed and mastered by producer Srdjan Popov in Belgrade, ‘They Live!’ has an oddly harmonic and flowing beat in the seemingly distorted instrumentation. What did I tell you, unique! The track has left my ears bleeding, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
