Bohardt – ILOVEU (2025)
With an experimental ear, an eclectic attitude, and an innovative attitude, singer-songwriter Bohardt ensnares senses with his moving pop music. As much as his music can leave you in a vibrant haze of sound, the intimate lyricism is what expresses his exploration of complex human situations; for us, having discovered his music only a couple of months ago, his intricate exposition of love is intriguing. In January, we jumped into his single ‘FOR YOU’, but today we’re taking a look at Bohardt’s most recent release, ‘ILOVEU’.
Following the well-received single ‘FOR YOU’, ‘ILOVEU’ tips its hat at the significance of not only being in love but saying it. I’m not speaking about the “I love you” you say to your cat or the words you quickly sneak to a tub of Nutella hoping that no one finds you entirely bonkers; this is the L-Bomb, the big three words, the phrase that can change your life with your love forever. Bohardt shares, “…the song captures the adrenaline rush of love in full bloom… It blends heart-racing production with deeply personal lyricism, reflecting the emotional intensity and vulnerability of finally saying those three life-changing words…”
Co-penned by Alfredo Villa Tinoco and Bohardt, each word of ‘ILOVEU’ oozes with feelings of uncertainty, vulnerability, fragility, and hopefulness of the future. Melodically, this intricate examination of raw emotions is boldly executed in a synth-pop composition. Produced with Stefan Mac, the combination of synths and pulsating beats is a sonic rollercoaster, taking you from the empowering highs of love to the depths of a potential romantic tragedy.
For me, ‘ILOVEU’ brings memories of Taylor Swift songs imploring your beloved to return your feelings with the simple words, “I love you”. Yet, as much as there is a vintage tone to the single, Bohardt inserts modern-day freshness while capturing the core of a timeless theme.
Je ‘taime; te amo; Ich liebe dich; I love you – whichever language you choose, I love you is not just a simple string of words; it’s a powerful concept. You might not know or care for Bohardt, but his new single will tug at your heartstrings, put butterflies in your tummy, and make you smile with the joy of love.
