BlueMelt – Glass Towers (2022)

Embracing his passion for music as a teenager, Vito Tardia (the brain behind BlueMelt) began his musical journey when he picked up a guitar at age 13. At 16, he joined a local rock band, and the rest is history…or so they say. Following his performances with the power metal band Pandaemonium in the 1990s and progressive rock band bOd in the 2000s, Tardia can bring together old-school metal with modern-day rock. The latest addition to his repertoire is the single ‘Glass Towers’.

The first release in two years, ‘Glass Towers’ is a two-track single with a powerful punch. An evolution from his six-track EP The Cube and the Key (Part I), ‘Glass Towers’ is a merging of hard rock instrumentation with modern-day alternative rock and metal thrown in the mix. Bringing an almost palpable grittiness to listeners, the opening track ‘Glass Towers’ is filled with hard-hitting guitars. Pounding drums belie the powerful guitar while flecks of contemporary synths make their way through the melody. Interestingly enough, the B-side ‘After The Storm’ shows a completely different side to BlueMelt.

Wrapping the rock meets metal sound in a dreamy Celtic vibe, ‘After The Storm’ has a charming sophistication and steadiness to the arrangement. I hate to use a pun, but ‘After The Storm’ is what you would expect to experience after a crazy storm. In this case, ‘Glass Towers’ is the frantic storm with the B-side calming your soul. Self-recorded and self-produced, Vito Tardia pushes to keep the DIY approach in rock music very much alive with this release.
