Blake Anthony Robson – Take Your Hands Off Me (2020)

Blake Anthony Robson is a man of many musical talents that allows him to span genres. Using Americana folk, he amazed us with ‘Alabaster Baby’ and ‘For The Last Time’ while his electronic rock style hit the spot with ‘Signal Dilemma’. He is continuing the latter style for his single ‘Take Your Hands Off Me’.

The single is part of a larger body of work going into the two separate albums he has been working on. Tapping into his electronic side, Robson hits listeners with his steady sounds. With a hint of cinematic sounds mixed with indie-rock and electronica, the track transports you into the intriguing world of his music.

The sombre opening of ‘Take Your Hands Off Me’ builds in tension and sound from the barest whisper to a wave of electronic keys gently propelling you into the vocals. The melodic line has a cinematic feeling to it as it slowly builds below the vocals only to burst for a more rock styling later in the track. The rolling beats and driving guitar get your heart pounding before you dip down to the more grounded electronic sounds. The rise and fall of the music complement the vocals and lyrics while pulsing tones add forward movement to the track.

Robson’s vocals are an intriguing mixture of powerful and gentle. His voice slices through the melody only to rest softly on your ears and draw you further into the music. There is the lightest hint of haziness to his vocals that makes it seem just out of reach. This enhances the cinematic feeling that the melody introduced while remaining accessible and captivating.

Blake Anthony Robson continues to showcase his musical versatility with his single ‘Take Your Hands Off Me’. The indie-rock track combines electronic keys with some more traditional rock stylings for a swelling melody. His vocals draw you into the track through a smooth yet lightly hazy line.
