Beasts of England – Kill The Joy (2023)

Formed in 2022 by Alien A and Alien B, Beasts of England is a distorted, chaotic and otherworldly musical project reaching out to the ears of anyone who will listen. Their existence on Earth began when they were “barfed out of the backside of Britain. Beaten and bedraggled, they bathed in bath salts and banshee dust…” – their words, not mine. Inspired by death grips and a conscious concern for our dying planet, Beasts of England grab you, twirl you about and send you spiralling into the ether with their intriguing music.

Finding the line between nu-metal, punk and hard rock, there is a heaviness to Beasts of England. Their debut single ‘Kill The Joy’ is chaotic, distorted and filled with a palpable grittiness. Pounding drums meld with dynamic guitars all lost in a sonic whirlwind. Interestingly enough, while you feel yourself spinning about in a mad punk song, there is a solid foundation in the instrumentation truly capturing the distressing concept of ‘Kill The Joy’: the devastating bullying of world leaders and the overwhelming destruction of everyday society.

“Beasts of England witnessed the barbarity of your leaders who bartered your bliss for power. This made the bests go berserk, bludgeoning your ears with their bombastic riffs and bestial screams…” – Beasts of England on ‘Kill The Joy’

Scrapping and scratching, ‘Kill The Joy’ is a gritty sonic representation of greed at the uppermost levels and the pain caused to achieve a “cool for them but ruins for us” society. The rich get richer and the poor will get poorer regardless of whose work and pain went into that deal. It’s a provocative theme and subject, but Beasts of England are not afraid to stand up and scream their “death screams”. With a powerful thump and punch in the gut, Beasts of England are making their mark with a scorching sound.
