Bad Ass Beauty – Me (2023)

Described by publications as “…stylish…” (A&R Factory) and “…channelling a soulful vocal charisma alongside hard-rocking guitar ferocity” (Obscure Sound), Bad Ass Beauty is proving a force to be reckoned with – and she only has one single to her name. The brainchild of US-based LaQuinta Prince, Bad Ass Beauty has been performing most of her life with various bands and as a solo artist in studio sessions and concerts. In fact, her previously unreleased version of the album 4 Horsemen was turned into a rock opera performed at the 2018 New York Musical Festival. Not only has she garnered a following in the US, but coverage on various playlists and publications such as Send Me Your Ears, Rock Era Magazine, Music Buzz, Music Arena GH, and Music For All sees her reaching international audiences. Come with us as we delve into her debut single, ‘Me’.

Not one to step away from provocative issues, Prince blends elements of RnB, soul and rock wrapped in a powerhouse package. Taking on the challenges facing females in the music industry, she stands up as an inspiration challenging misogynism, misrepresentation, sexual harassment, complex family dynamics and the like. With her debut single, ‘Me’, Prince taps into her inner P!nk with the attitude of Alanis Morrissette and the ferocious guitar of old-school hard rock legends like Led Zeppelin. Interestingly enough, while these comparisons can be made, Bad Ass Beauty is entirely original building listeners up with her soul-stirring melodies.

From the first second, Prince tosses you into a kaleidoscopic sonic whirlpool hurled about with a furious force; however, just as madness ensues in ‘Me’, there is an anchor set with her soulful vocals. With a powerful blast, she sings “…round and round, it still comes back to me” pushing her message of empowerment and optimism. Sassy, strong and with a bit of a cheeky grin, Prince proves she is a badass beauty not to be underestimated.
