Avresa – Leave It All (2022)

Avresa considered living vicariously through social media and all the presumptions we all make about the lives of others in ‘Are You Happy?’. He is now turning to the realignment of priorities and the importance of wellbeing in ‘Leave It All’. Inspired by the Great Resignation, the single looks at working up the courage to change your life and reinvent yourself, even when this comes with painful sacrifices.

While drawing on the Great Resignation, there is a much larger message to the single that can relate to toxic relationships, friendships and the expectations we have for ourselves. Through the indie-rock tones of the track, Avresa suggests that we all need to learn how and when to accept defeat, before moving forward. A powerful single that weaves a message we all need to hear, it will leave you feeling stronger than before and ready to walk your own path to happiness.

‘Leave It All’ hooks you to its sound with a driving guitar line through the opening. Beneath the driving guitars is an equally driving drumline that pushes you forward into some softer tones. The initial guitar line comes back, getting your head bopping to the sound, as your body gently moves to the drums. The movement of the melody perfectly creates the push of the lyrics that leads you to change your life, before reaching the softer tones that are the freedom that comes after letting go of expectations. Through the melody, you are driven forward into the journey of the lyrics, whether you have gone through the same yourself or not. It is a really catchy melody that uses the best elements of indie rock woven into a dynamic flow. Later in the track, everything drops for the vocals to really shine before a strummed tone shakes you up.

Avresa’s vocals enter over the initial guitar line, with a promise to come back, that turns into the thoughts that you could be more than what you are at the moment. Through his performance, he slowly builds the strength you need to leave it all behind, reinvent yourself, and embrace who you really are. While the single was inspired by the Great Resignation, there is a universal feeling to the lyrics that allows them to relate to a lot of different situations. As you listen to his performance, you are going to feel the strength of his convictions. As the melody drops for the vocals to really shine, it is like an epiphany that offers a stark look at what we have become and how we can move forward.

With a driving rock melody, Avresa builds our strength to move on and embrace the change that the future can bring in ‘Leave It All’. From the first note, the melody pushes you forward, only to dip and dive, allowing the vocals to shine. Through his vocal performance, Avresa slowly builds your confidence, before bringing a moment of realisation.
