Reaching international listeners, the UK-based Attic Theory receives critical acclaim, climbs charts like the iTunes UK ‘Top 20 Alternative Albums’ and iTunes UK ‘Top 200 Mainstream Chart’ rubbing shoulders with Creed, Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, and dare we say it…Taylor Swift. A few years ago, The Other Side Reviews got our first taste of Attic Theory in ‘Narrow Lines’. Today, we delve into their discography with the track ‘Dare To Dream’.
Combining the talent of Lewis Wright (vocals), Tim Cunningham (guitar), Matt Lawler (guitar), Lucy Ellen (bass) and Norm Walker (drums), ‘Dare To Dream’ is a hard-hitting blast of hard rock mingled with the grit of alternative rock. Beautifully layered and textured, the single shows harmonic unity but also oozes chaos with each instrument holding a prominent position. The pounding drums collide with scorching guitars as the bold bass holds its own. Then again, just as you are tossed from pillar to post in each moment, Wright’s distinctive vocals anchor listeners in a gruff, raw, rugged but warm tone.
The melody itself will fit alongside artists like Creed and Seether; however, the profoundness of the track is heard in its lyricism. Taken from Attic Theory’s emotional debut album, What We Fear The Most, ‘Dare To Dream’ delves into the depths of the human spirit. Exploring vulnerability and fragility, but with an empowering slant to resilience in dark times, Wright explains:
“The track represents a personal journey of perseverance. During a challenging period in my life, I faced an obstacle and underwent throat surgery. However, I refused to let these setbacks define me or hold me back from finishing our debut album… I believe the song reflects my determination to rise above adversity and encourage others to do the same.”
