Atari Pilot – Train Of Life (2023)

For approximately 12 years, give or take, UK-based Atari Pilot has been enchanting audiences with their intoxicating music. From their debut Navigation of the World By Sound, released in 2011, to the most recent single ‘Train Of Life’, Atari Pilot has received critical acclaim from gig-goers, publications and radio stations. Known for their electric performances, they engage with audiences through energising shows; however, this electricity is heard in their recorded material as well. Come with us as we step into their unique brand of indie-rock.

Entering a new era of Atari Pilot’s sound, the lads follow their single ‘Releasing The Hounds’ with ‘Train Of Life’. The first single in two years, ‘Train Of Life’ is the re-emergence of this powerhouse on all streaming sites, but they have not lost any of the pizzaz we hear with previous work. In fact, the new single showcases a honing of Atari Pilot’s sound dipping into a heavier classic rock sound with slips of synths flourishing in the background. While the familiar indie sensibilities can be heard, ‘Train Of Life’ brings an interesting intensity to the group’s music.

In an interview with Illustrate Magazine, Atari Pilot shared that the key element to their music is “the combination of strength and vulnerability…to connect with people in a way that makes them want to move and also be moved…” – and this is clearly evident in ‘Train Of Life’.

Exploring life in its entirety, Atari Pilot uses ‘Train Of Life’ to remind us about the importance of “living in the moment and embracing the journey, no matter where it takes you.” At the same time, however, the lads hope to use their music to resonate with audiences without forcing a certain interpretation. In the same interview with Illustrate Magazine, the lads explained that they “…subscribe to the notion that the song can mean whatever people want it to mean for them because that is the magic of us having our own perspectives and connections to songs.”
