Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends – Sing-Along Songs (2025)
The brainchild of singer-songwriter Arne Floryd, Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is the result of Floryd’s passion, dedication and zealous pursuit of innovative music. As a solo artist, Floryd began captivating international audiences in 2020 with his self-titled double-single – all to critical acclaim. From then, his symphonic melodies continued to astound with tracks like ‘Suck’, ‘My Favourite Song’, and ‘Smash’. While one might wish to label Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends, it’s not all that simple. Shifting from power-pop and classic rock to punk, folk, grunge and country, the Swedish artist proves he is anything but pedestrian. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Sing-Along Songs’.
Following his 2024 single ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’, ‘Sing-Along Songs’ steps to an indie-pop meets folk-rock sound with pop-rock glitter clinging to the sonic wrapper. Melodically, ‘Sing-Along Songs’ is a bold concoction of shimmering keys, a soaring guitar, hints of percussion and pulsating drums; however, this melody is more than just a melody. With vivid imagery and kaleidoscopic vibrance, Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends drag you into a multi-coloured whirlpool dashed from pillar to post but with a soothing calm cushioning the rush.
Toe-tapping, head-bopping, finger-clicking, and soul-stirring, it is inevitable that you’ll lose yourself in ‘Sing-Along Songs’. Yet, as much as the track is upbeat and jovial, Floryd adds weightiness to the full-bodied track with meaningful lyricism. He explains that “…the new single combines happy, playful music with ironic lyrics and sombre humour…” I find it particularly amusing that the title refers to a sing-along song as ‘Sing-Along Songs’ is just that – a tune you sing along to even if you don’t know the lyrics.
The second release after Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends 2023 album No Sweets For E, ‘Sing-Along Songs’ is a snippet of infectious fun perfect to end a busy day. Interesting titbit: this single may or may not be included on Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends’ album scheduled for 2026 release. For now, we wait with bated breath for more from this talented musician.
