Apollo Junction – Begin (2018)

‘Begin’ is the sound of summer you need.

This summer’s heatwave may just have a new soundtrack.  Released back in 2016, but now gaining considerable traction in 2018, Apollo Junction’s ‘Begin’ has all the traits of a summer indie rock hit.  The melodic synths sound like they’re straight off the latest FIFA soundtrack, a possibility made even more plausible after a successful performance at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival and billing to play again in 2019.

The essence of the band’s fresh sound has been captured in the song, which has you daydreaming of running through the summertime wheat fields like a wayward Mrs May.  The upbeat feel to the track is matched by an inventive music video, showing the band’s flair for the creative.

The Leeds group have continued to garner praise, with plaudits from BBC DJs, Janice Long, Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins who called them ‘something special’.  All the while, their YouTube channel still has under 1,000 subs so you can still tell people you’ve ‘discovered’ them.

This song is perfect for those searching for a new summer anthem to stick on the picnic in the park playlist. Or, more likely, to cure your vitamin D withdrawal symptoms when it starts raining again…

‘Begin’ is available on Amazon and iTunes. If you want to discover more Apollo Junction, be sure to check out their Facebook.
