Anoush – I Will Behave (2024)

Inspired by artists who have carved their niche in the music industry, singer-songwriter Anoush is eager to leave a stamp with her original music – and hell, she’s well on the way to this. Weaving her classical training with elements of pop and jazz, the US-based singer-songwriter pushes the boundaries of conventionalism with her sound. While she only began releasing music in 2023, according to Spotify so don’t quote me, Anoush is quickly garnering an international following far beyond her North American borders. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘I Will Behave’.

Following her well-received singles ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Take A Trip’, ‘I Will Behave’ brings the old-school big band jazz sound to modern-day audiences. Interestingly, while the drums, bass and piano smoulder with jazz-influenced tones, the guitar kicks a hint of rock to ‘I Will Behave’. This powerful guitar riff isn’t merely an intriguing slice to the kaleidoscopic soundscape but highlights Anoush’s innovative attitude. Toe-tapping and body-swaying, ‘I Will Behave’ completely ensnares the senses with its perfumed haze; however, while the track has a pleasant bounce, it oozes slower jazz-filled attitudes. Like a brief glimpse of sheer stockings through a slit in a satin skirt, ‘I Will Behave’ breathes mischievous allure and sensuality.

The instrumentation itself is full-bodied and can stand on its own, but Anoush’s voice is what heightens the captivating nature of ‘I Will Behave’. Reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, the dulcet vocals are enchanting and obscure – perfect considering the theme of the track. While there is a wrap of seduction in ‘I Will Behave’, it is a brief glimpse into those “not so innocent” intentions. The track might revolve around “flirty thoughts of infidelity” but, and this is elegantly executed in the lyrics, those thoughts are merely thoughts. You behave… but you can always imagine, can’t you?
