Andrew Browning And The 9 Pound Hammers – Preachers of Doom (2024)
Embracing the spirit of California rock with their infectious, energetic and home-grown melodies, Andrew Browning And The 9 Pound Hammers is a shining beacon of Californian music at its core. From vulnerable grit to shining glory, the US-based five-piece create intricate compositions that resonate with listeners on an intimate level; or at least, they have you twirling about in a sonic haze for a few minutes. While their music can be described as rock, Andrew Browning and his crew push the boundaries of this genre building a style that is entirely unique and inimitable. Join us as we delve into their most recent single, ‘Preachers of Doom’.
Taken from their album Love Is A Beautiful Thing, an album that Browning describes as “…a tribute to the grit and beauty of California, exploring love in all its messy, unrefined facets…”, ‘Preachers of Doom’ is a powerful anthem tackling individuality, social consciousness and reality in itself. Browning explains the song “…represents both a rejection of mainstream media disaster porn and an embrace of individual consciousness…”
Produced with Derek O’Brien, ‘Preachers of Doom’ is a kaleidoscopic sonic tapestry flooded with shining colourful threads of sound. The pounding drums weave with bright red, while the soaring guitar glimmers across in a vibrant blue. The bold bass backs with a green tinge, and the keyboards twinkle in a bright yellow haze. Yet, while each element harmonically gathers together in the tapestry, Browning’s rich, warm vocals bind everything with a golden ribbon.
In addition to the single, Andrew Browning And The 9 Pound Hammers release an official music video for ‘Preachers of Doom’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
