Andi Jackson – Antennas (2021)

Are you in the mood for an authentic single that brings out the alternative side of indie music? Well, Andi Jackson has just what you want with his single ‘Antennas’. The woozy and hypnotic feeling of the song packs a punch of spirited post-punk and psych-rock. As the first single off his upcoming album Sub Horror, it hits you with lo-fi experimental vibes.

While working on his second solo album, Jackson has been making music with two bands who are releasing songs throughout the year. Having not allowed the pandemic to slow him down, he also runs a DIY record label while holding down a full-time job. If all of that doesn’t impress you, this single is sure to.

‘Antennas’ hits you with a blend of soaring notes and psychedelic tones. The gentle pulses of the melody put you into an almost meditative state before dipping for the verses. Throughout the single, there are these wonderful psychedelic tones in the background that comb their way through the more rock stylings. It is a great melody that is quite different from what you normally hear with a touch of retro vibes. The easiness that rests in the music lures you into a false sense as it really hits you deep in the chest. The horns that come in later to dance with a soaring guitar is utterly wonderful.

Adding to the psychedelic vibes of the melody, Jackson’s vocals seem to come at you like a wavelength of sound. There is a slight rise and fall to his performance that enhances the easiness of the music while sneaking into your senses. His performance also touches on those retro vibes while pulling you into the hypnotic flows of the music.

Andi Jackson hits you with a hypnotic flow of woozy tones, soaring guitars, captivating horns and echoing vocals in ‘Antennas’.
