Amber T – Contagious (2023)

While most 13-year-old girls spend their days hanging out with friends, giggling whenever a cute guy walks past, or listening to their favourite musician at the time (mine was Backstreet Boys), Amber T was building a music career. By the time Amber was 14, she had released her first co-written single ‘Tick Tock’ with producer Dr Zeus and receiving support far beyond her UK borders. As the years progressed, so did her standing in the UK music scene and by age 19 she had several hit singles, became Yamaha Music London’s youngest ambassador, and was recognised by Sir Elton John as “brilliant”. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Contagious’.

Following her well-received singles ‘Tightrope’ and ‘Ripped Jeans’, Amber T releases her infectious new song ‘Contagious’. Teaming up with Grammy and Ivor Novello Award-winning producer Rob Davis, the single draws together elements of pop and EDM in the well-textured arrangement. Unlike the pop-rock ‘Ripped Jeans’, Amber transcends to a more electropop tone in ‘Contagious’ showcasing her diversity as an artist. Yet, while the overall arrangement is a new era of Amber T, her reminiscence to Hayley Williams can still be heard in the vocal execution.

Think Shawn Mendes meets Taylor Swift but with a heavier EDM bass, and you might have an idea of what ‘Contagious’ sounds like. The bold beats match sensational synths with Amber T’s vocals both bouncing and slithering over the melody. Upbeat and jovial, ‘Contagious’ is the perfect dancefloor anthem but will simultaneously have people pumping their fists in the air singing along to the tune at a festival.

Tossing you into a kaleidoscopic swirl of sound, Amber T soothes your soul but also has you bouncing about in smooth chaos. Addictive, intoxicating and, well, contagious, Amber T captures our hearts and heads with ‘Contagious’.
