Amanda Brecker – Man Of My Dreams (2023)
Her mum is the Brazilian pianist/singer Eliane Elias. Her father is the trumpeter Randy Brecker (an original member of Blood, Sweat and Tears). Her uncle was the legendary saxophonist, Michael Breaker. So, it makes sense that Amanda Brecker would have music coursing through her veins…and she does.
A singer-songwriter from New York City, Amanda Brecker has always been passionate about music and began her solo project with four studio albums created specifically for release in Japan. While Japan might have been the target for her original albums, Brecker is reaching audiences on a global level with her critically acclaimed releases. After knocking our socks off with her twelve-track album Way To Be, she is making waves once again with the single ‘Man Of My Dreams’.
Taken from her upcoming eight-track album Dreams, ‘Man Of My Dreams’ sees Brecker tipping her hat to vintage pop-rock. With slips of old-school Avril Lavigne wafting through a bold melody, Brecker revives the bounciness of pop with the edginess of rock. Pounding drums match crashing guitars in a wave of music; however, it is the scorching guitar solo that really brings that 90s oomph to the harmonic arrangement.
While the melody can have anyone grinning with its toe-tapping swirl of kaleidoscopic sound, Brecker’s voice infuses a charming spice to the heartfelt track. I mentioned a hint of Avril Lavigne, but this is merely a reference. The truth is that Amanda Brecker’s vocals have a signature feistiness in their sweet tones. Penned at a time when Brecker met the man of her dreams, her playful composition captures the euphoria of love in a sublime haze of sonic bliss.
In addition to the single, Amanda Brecker released an official music video for ‘Man Of My Dreams’. You can view the video below or via her YouTube channel. Please note, that this video uses effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
