Alesandra – Deep End (2024)

Living in the leafy suburb of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, a young Alesandra Pollack embraced her passion for music at a young age. Not even hitting double digits just yet, the 7-year-old was composing and singing songs showcasing her natural talent in blending moving melodies with honest lyrics. As she became older, her musical prowess took form in confident performances, genuine melodies, and a way of intoxicating listeners across the globe. While this is my introduction to Alesandra, she is quickly carving a niche in the contemporary pop scene placing her name on the tip of tongues throughout the US and her new home Norway.

From her critically acclaimed debut single ‘Queen of Kings’ to ‘Bad Bitch’ and ‘Heavy’, Alesandra is not only showing her sophistication as a writer but her versatility as an artist. Retaining a strong pop-driven tone in her singles, Alesandra can easily sit alongside Ariana Grande on a playlist. Yet, the shift from contemporary pop to electronic pop and slips of folk-pop has Alesandra sauntering across the pop spectrum with charming elegance. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Deep End’.

Following her well-received track ‘Heavy’, ‘Deep End’ is a soft, soothing, laidback ballad slipping tinges of RnB into a commercial pop masterpiece. While there is a sophisticated elegance to ‘Deep End’, there is a seemingly innocent oscillation between dark despair and upbeat optimism floating throughout. The bold beats carry the melody from slow and steady through a frenzied rage and back down to a simplistic ending leading you from the crazy to the calm.

Known for her heartfelt lyricism, Alesandra connects with audiences resonating in her narratives. In ‘Deep End’, she captures the essence of dealing with mental health issues – intricate and complicated bound in a blanket of loneliness, vulnerability and conflict. Yet, while the twirl of music can plunge you into a dark haunting of fear and fragility, there is a hopeful optimism in the rich vocals drawing you up from the mire. Alesandra explains:

“I was seventeen when I wrote ‘Deep End’. At the time, I was about to go to my third treatment centre – it all felt like a never-ending struggle. I want to open up a conversation about mental health and bring awareness to the struggle that so many of us face.”
