Alec Berlin – Beat Confabulator (All Night On The Floor) (2023)
In an interview with The Other Side Reviews (that’s us!) in 2022, Alec Berlin shared that his musical journey, or rather the time he began playing, started with The Beatles and his dog – “I remember singing ‘She Loves You’ to my dog in order to get him riled up. Later I was blown away by the guitar sound on Sgt. Pepper”. Since that magic moment, this US-based musician has gained a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance, shared the stage with the likes of Elton John, James Taylor and Ben Folds, and performed in award-winning Broadway shows like Green Day’s American Idiot, Wicked and The Lion King. In addition, he has been featured on The Late Show with David Letterman, Good Morning America and so much more that I could go on for pages.
Described as having “ear-appealing compositions…” (Thoughts Words Actions), being “—ambitious and powerful” (Find No Enemy), “..fantastic and unstoppable…” (Edgar Allan Poets), and “…legendary” (Sinusoidal Music), there is a consensus that Alec Berlin is pretty awesome. An instrumental musician, he has no real need for words to convey pure emotion, and we once again hear this in his latest offering ‘Beat Confabulator (All Night On The Floor).
Taken from his new album, Beat Confabulator (All Night On The Floor), the title track is pure artistry highlighting what experience can offer. With over 25 years in the music industry, Berlin is highly skilled with inimitable music oozing from his guitar. With strong rock sentiments, Berlin’s powerful guitar has a nostalgic flair taking us back to the best of the 70s and 80s. Interestingly enough, while rock-inspired sounds are rife in ‘Beat Confabulator (All Night On The Floor)’, Berlin’s jazz influence slithers through the track with an impressive jazz ending bringing you down from high-powered beats in a smooth way. In my opinion, he is better than Eric Clapton in his heyday and on the heels of Santana.
